New confirmed cases of Sudden Oak Death (SOD) (P. ramorum) have been added to OakMapper. Eight new points collected by California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) between 2011-2014 have been added to OakMapper, bringing the total number of confirmed SOD locations to 3254.
OakMapper Mobile has been updated (version 2.4) to take take advantage of the latest iOS interface design and requirements. It is available for download at the Apple App Store. Existing OakMapper Mobile users are encouraged to update to the latest version.
New confirmed cases of Sudden Oak Death (SOD) (P. ramorum) have been added to OakMapper. 442 new points collected between 2012-2013 have been added to OakMapper bringing the total number of confirmed SOD locations to 3246. The new data consists of laboratory confirmed cases collected by the annual SOD Blitz campaign of 2013 from the Forest Pathology and Mycology Lab run by Dr. Matteo Garbelotto and also laboratory confirmed cases collected by the UC Davis Rizzo Lab run by Dr. David Rizzo.
A new version (v2.2) of the OakMapper iPhone App has been released on the iTunes App Store. The latest release takes advantage of the improved iOS mapping capability to display community-submitted polygons. It also comes with a number of functionality improvements (i.e. user login and profile management, improved browsing and searching capabilities, submission of SOD pictures, and etc.) as well as user interface/interaction redesign (i.e. new SOD submission workflow, the change of SOD case detail page layout, a simple tutorial about OakMapper, and many others). This release now works on iPad as well. If you have not used the OakMapper App on your iOS devices, try it out. If you have already downloaded the previous version, make sure you upgrade now and experience all the improvements in this new release.

The new data consists of laboratory confirmed cases collected by the annual SOD Blitz campaigns of 2008-2010 from the Forest Pathology and Mycology Lab run by Dr. Matteo Garbelotto and also data collected by the California Department of Food and Agriculture between 2008 and 2011.
The California Academy of Sciences recently created a video that features the OakMapper's web site as well as its iPhone application in their Science Today video forum. In this short video, the story of Sudden Oak Death disease and the efforts to monitor its spread is very well captured and communicated. The video is currently running at the kiosk section.
